The individual settings confronted in „taking the long way home" involve (infra)structures and personal collections in which artists, acting as collectors and observers, explore intimate environments, examining them as systems. We encounter relics whose materiality and patina allude more to what is absent, forgotten, or hidden than to what remains. Stripped of their original function and subjected to subtle interventions, these settings provide a platform for our personal projections and expectations, while school bench scribbles suddenly appear as the most authentic source of history. The act of collecting as a ritual raises questions about private property and aesthetic concepts, as the focus on detail contrasts with the accelerationist present.
